So good to have you here

You're almost here. In Scheveningen.

Where I get to take you on an artistic journey through my life, to share myself with you. You've read a bit about my journey in the days before, now we're almost continuing together in real life.

But before we do, let's just quickly go over some key moments that affected my career as an artist...

Falling

My passion for creating started in my early childhood. I used charcoal to sketch the scenery of the area where I grew up. Scarce moments that allowed me to escape reality for a while and be myself completely. After high school, I attended what we know as ‘Graphic Lyceum’, to learn all about the skills to make a magazine. A wonderful time in which I acquired a craft that I could fall back on several times.

Then I fell. Badly. Bruised two vertebrae in my neck - a most unfortunate fall. I was working in the prepress department of a small printing company at that time, but I wasn’t able to carry out that work anymore. Yet, new opportunities arose. After 3 years, my journey into my own creative 'being' got a surprising sequel...

Lighters & Sketches

I fell under the spell of making small art objects, jewellery and lighter holders. I merged scrap metal with malleable epoxy resin - that simple. And people loved it! Yet, after a number of successful festivals, the production was no longer profitable enough to live on.

That was actually okay for me; my rather demanding job in Telecommunications and Internet business required me to travel a lot. I could no longer combine my creative ambition with my work. But wherever I went, I always carried a sketchbook and a box of pastels in my hand luggage.

"Yes… I also have a sketch of the mountains in the Sierra Nevada."
